A technology writer who spent twenty years explaining startups to everybody else, and eventually decided that explaining was not enough.

The writer

Mr. 6 is a technology writer and blogger. For two decades the work has been the same: take what is happening in startups, venture capital and technology, and make it legible to people who do not live inside it — founders in their first year, professionals in traditional industries, students, and readers who simply wanted to understand where the world was going.

Writing at that volume, for that long, produces an unusual view of the ecosystem. You see which companies get written about and which never do. You see how often a deal happens because of proximity rather than merit. You see how many people are one introduction away from a completely different outcome — and never get it.

Why a foundation

Commentary has a ceiling. You can describe a gap for years without a single person crossing it. A foundation can do the thing itself: convene people, publish the companies nobody else is publishing, and make the introductions by hand until the pattern is established enough to run without a founder's name attached.

The non-profit structure is deliberate. The moment an organisation like this takes equity or a success fee, it starts optimising for the deals that pay it rather than the introductions that matter. We would rather be small and trusted.

What we are building now

  • The network. Founders, angels, funds, operators and partners, profiled by what they can offer and what they are missing.
  • The showcase. A public, curated set of startups — AI-native and traditional — written so an outsider in another market can understand them.
  • MISS. The Multi-Market Inter-Cultural Startup Showcase, our flagship gathering. MISS-1 takes place in Vancouver, BC in December 2026.
